Modules 1 and 2 Reflection

Modules 1 and 2 Reflection

Module 1 talked about testing and remediation strategies. In module 1, I learned various strategies for test taking. One strategy is to utilize priority setting frameworks while evaluating a question. Some of these frameworks include Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and ABC (airway, breathing, and circulation). This relates to many aspects of nursing school questions, as some questions are looking for which patient is the priority in a situation. Using these frameworks allow me to evaluate each option and decide which is the priority based on their ABC status, for example. These frameworks are easy to integrate into nursing because prioritizing patients is key to efficient nursing. Doing triage and evaluating which patients need to be treated first is how we save lives and provide quality healthcare to all patients.

Module 2 discussed nursing concepts. I gained a better understanding of various nursing concepts that are key to quality nursing. One concept was evidence-based practice, which combines scientific evidence with patient values and clinical experience to create educated decisions when caring for a patient. Evidence-based practice is important to what we are learning because, as nursing students, we are developing our clinical experience, learning patient values, and gaining knowledge of what scientific evidence has said about each topic discussed in lecture. Developing evidence-based practice skills will aid in an easy transfer from nursing school to the workforce. We will have some clinical experience, where we also learn patient values, and we will have the knowledge of current and relevant scientific research. Utilizing evidence-based practice in nursing will allow us to provide quality and holistic care for our patients.
