Delirium is an acute condition where a patient may become confused and disoriented. Delirium can be brought upon by medications and long hospital stays. Preventing delirium includes frequently orienting patients, working their mind, and closely monitoring for signs of delirium. I personally have not had a patient with delirium, but I would expect that the patient may be anxious or fearful, disoriented, and they may ask a lot of questions about where they are.
